Description
For more than 300 years, Palais Schoenborn-Batthyány has been a special place in the heart of Vienna.
At the end of the 17th century, this magnificent city palace was built on the Freyung in the style of classical Baroque. Construction began in 1692 and was carried out according to the plans of the renowned Baroque architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach. Under the patronage of the distinguished Prince-Bishop Friedrich Karl von Schoenborn, the interiors were lavishly furnished and enhanced with elegant Rococo elements. To this day, the impressive grand staircase, historic rooms, and intricate details bear witness to the palace’s illustrious past.
Despite its eventful history, the Palais has preserved its unique character and today combines a historic atmosphere with contemporary art.
