Experience, Understand, and Help Shape Sustainability

At VILA VITA Pannonia, responsible action is a long-standing tradition. Since 2010, the Anneliese Pohl Energy Center has supplied around 85% of the resort with renewable thermal energy – reducing CO₂ emissions by 797 tons annually. The newest photovoltaic modules now complement the system with 50 kWp of solar power – 100% quality made in Austria. Energy is also generated decentrally, exactly where it's needed: solar panels on the hotel roof and in the reed village provide hot water directly for wellness and residential areas.

The nature-oriented eco-park Pannonia Hills offers a unique retreat that combines landscape conservation, biodiversity, and tranquility – a flagship project for gentle tourism. Regional products, short supply chains, and certified environmental standards characterize the entire nature resort. Awarded the Austrian Ecolabel as a Green Location, VILA VITA Pannonia stands for a sustainable fusion of comfort, nature, and innovation.

What does sustainability specifically mean for your location, and how do you implement these principles in everyday life?

Sustainability at VILA VITA Pannonia means acting responsibly in harmony with nature and the environment. In practice, this is implemented through our own energy supply: the Anneliese Pohl Energy Center covers around 85% of the heating needs with renewable energy and saves 797 tons of CO₂ annually. Additionally, photovoltaic systems with a capacity of 50 kWp provide solar electricity. Decentralized solar panels on rooftops also supply hot water directly where it is needed – for example, in the wellness and living areas. Sustainability is also reflected in the design of the resort, such as in the nature-based eco-park Pannonia Hills, which stands for gentle tourism.

Do you work with regional producers or service providers? If so, what does this collaboration look like?

Yes, VILA VITA Pannonia works closely – wherever possible – with regional producers and service providers. This is reflected in the deliberate use of regional products and attention to short supply routes. This collaboration not only supports the local economy but also helps reduce the ecological footprint.

How do you raise awareness among your guests or clients about sustainability?

We raise awareness through lived examples on-site: guests directly experience sustainable energy supply and nature-friendly design – such as in the eco-park or through visible solar technology. The Austrian Ecolabel award further highlights the resort’s sustainable concept and fosters awareness among guests for eco-friendly travel without compromising comfort.

What challenges do you currently see in sustainably designing tourism or event offerings?

A key challenge is to combine sustainability with high comfort expectations while remaining economically viable. Expanding regional supply chains and ensuring certified environmental standards on an ongoing basis also require continuous effort. Moreover, guests must be further sensitized to sustainable behavior – without affecting their holiday experience.
